Music & Meaning

Combating social isolation through live music

In partnership with Berea Home Village and board-certified music therapist Cecilia Stair (MT-BC), we integrate activities into our outdoor concerts to address social isolation among older adults. Live music becomes a pathway to connection, cognitive engagement, and community belonging. Each concert pairs professional musical performance with intentional programming designed to support the health and wellbeing of Berea's aging population.

The Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, provides operating support to AMP Berea and supports their Music & Meaning project with state tax dollars from the Kentucky General Assembly and federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts. This project is also funded in part by a grant from South Arts in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and the Kentucky Arts Councl.
